AVONDALE, Ariz. - Michael McDowell posted an 18th-place finish in the Bashas' Supermarkets 200 Friday at Phoenix International Raceway, moving his MacDonald Motorsports team up four spots in the NASCAR Nationwide Series owners standings and locking the No. 81 team into next week's race at Texas.
McDowell moved from 32nd to 28th in the owners standings, with Brian Keselowski's K Automotive Motorsports team also moving into the top 30. Keselowski finished 20th at Phoenix, moving to 30th from 33rd in the owners standings.
With those two teams jumping in to the top 30, two teams dropped out: Specialty Racing and Key Motorsports. Josh Wise finished 24th at Phoenix but fell two spots to 31st in the owners standings. Mike Bliss crashed at Phoenix in Key's No. 40 and finished 38th, as the team fell five spots to 32nd.
The battle for the final locked-in positions remains tight, as Specialty is only six points behind K Automotive, with Key 12 points behind Specialty.
Only 88 points separate 22nd-place Nemco Motorsports and the 34th-place team of Braun Racing (No. 10).
