Sam Hornish scores first NASCAR victory by winning Phoenix Nationwide race

Sam Hornish Jr. celebrates in victory lane after winning the NASCAR Nationwide Series Wypall 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

AVONDALE, Ariz. - Sam Hornish Jr. cruised to his first NASCAR victory Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway, winning the Wypall 200 Nationwide Series race.

Taking the lead after a two-tire stop on Lap 131 put him on the front row, Hornish held off teammate Brad Keselowski to win the Wypall 200.

Carl Edwards ran third, followed by Joey Logano and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who all but locked up his first series championship with one race left.

Elliott Sadler's title hopes dashed with late-race crash

The car of Elliott Sadler is towed to the garage after a crash during the NASCAR Nationwide Series Wypall 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

AVONDALE, Ariz. - Elliott Sadler saw his NASCAR Nationwide Series championship hopes all but disappear on Lap 175 of the Wypall 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Sadler, who entered the race 17 points behind Ricky Stenhouse Jr., finished 27th and fell 41 points out of the lead. Stenhouse Jr. clinches the title with a finish of 37th or better; 38th and at least one lap led; 39th with most laps led at Homestead.

Trevor Bayne aims to ride Texas momentum into Phoenix

Trevor Bayne did OK putting the controversy from the Talladega Sprint Cup race behind him, scoring his first Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend.

So how does he handle success? We'll find out this Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway, which hosts the Nationwide Series Wypall 200.

"We try not to feed off the negative things, and we know we're going to be back to a positive day," Bayne said of Talladega, where he was roundly criticized for abandoning the draft of Jeff Gordon late in the race. "With that said, when we do have good days, we do ride that a little bit more."
