WARSAW, Ind. – ML Motorsports owner, Mary Louise Miller, has been honored for her selfless and - more importantly - anonymous service as she won the Woman of the Year at the 98th Annual Membership Dinner Meeting of the Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce Thursday night.
During his introduction of Miller, Times-Union General Manager Gary Gerard said she was somebody who never wanted recognition for her service.
"She is always willing to lend a helping hand, whether financially or with her special talents, asking only one thing in return: that she remain anonymous," said Gerard.
Miller has been involved with the board of Women in Motorsports, the Lyn St. James Foundation, the World Craniofacial Foundation, Women’s Care Center, the Orthopedic Research and Education Fund, the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation, Kosciusko Cancer Care Foundation, Combined Community Services steering committee, Healthcare Foundation Festival of Trees Committee, Just Peachy cookbook committee, United Way, Riley Hospital Foundation fundraising committee, MasterWorks fundraising committee and Tri Kappa among other charitable organizations.
"This is so surprising and overwhelming. All I can say is thank you very much," said Miller as she received her award.
Ed Mullen, Team President and son-in-law of Miller, says "We are so proud that she has been recognized for her endless commitment and service to the community. It was such a surprise to her-she didn’t have any idea that she had been nominated. It was a well-kept secret among the community, team, and family members".
ML Motorsports will be back on the track at Daytona International Speedway and are planning to run a 22 race schedule in 2010.
