SPARTA, Ky. – Kentucky Speedway will continue its solid event sponsorship record with partners Meijer, Ford Racing, the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Office of Highway Safety during its 2010 race season.
Meijer will be an event title sponsor for an eighth consecutive season when the NASCAR Nationwide Series visits June 12 for the "Meijer 300 presented by Ritz" and will continue to serve as the Official Supercenter of Kentucky Speedway. Meijer operates 185 Supercenters that employ more than 60,000 team members in five states. Supercenters offer a full grocery department as well as more than 40 other departments such as fashion, automotive, home decor, health and beauty care, pharmacy, electronics and pet care.
"Meijer’s motorsports-oriented programs have proven to be valuable assets in maintaining and growing our fan base. The team’s enthusiastic approach to our event easily translates to its customers and helps drive the energetic NASCAR Nationwide Series audiences we entertain each season," Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger said.
The first 2010 speedway event weekend will begin June 11 with NASCAR Nationwide Series practice sessions on "Click It or Ticket. Buckle-Up Kentucky Practice Night," the first of two speedway events that will receive support from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Office of Highway Safety.
"We’re proud our events can serve as a platform for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Office of Highway Safety’s educational ‘Drive Smart Kentucky,’ ‘Buckle-Up! Kentucky’ and ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaigns. Messages relayed through these outreach programs save lives and we value our role in raising public awareness regarding the importance of safe driving," Simendinger said.
Kentucky Speedway’s first Labor Day Weekend celebration will feature a three-race docket that will commence Sept. 3 with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series "Built Ford Tough 225 presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers." Ford Racing and the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers will support the event which features its signature F-150 truck in action for an eighth consecutive season.
"The Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers have been a mainstay of our corporate partner family from the moment we broke ground for our facility. We’re once again honored to be a part of Ford Racing’s championship NASCAR tradition and ready to team with the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers to deliver another competitive Camping World Truck Series event on Labor Day Weekend," Simendinger said.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Office of Highway Safety will return to the speedway Sept. 4 with the Firestone Indy Lights "Drive Smart. Buckle-Up Kentucky 100" featuring the top developmental drivers in open-wheel racing. The race will serve as the prelude to a primetime 300-mile IndyCar Series battle.
