JR Motorsports' No. 7 to run full season; Scott Wimmer to drive at Bristol and Nashville

The JR Motorsports announced this week that the team’s No. 7 entry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will run the full season. Danica Patrick has 13 races in the car, but she is taking a hiatus for her IndyCar schedule.

Scott Wimmer is in the car for this weekend’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway and the April 3 event at Nashville Superspeedway.
The team said "complete sponsorship details and drivers are to be determined."

"This is something we’ve been considering for a while now, and the bottom line is the No. 7 car is too good not to be at the race track," JRM co-owner and crew chief Tony Eury Jr. said. "Our goal at JR Motorsports has always been to have two full-time Nationwide Series teams competing every week. Our sponsorship situation with the No. 88 has shown significant progress, and hopefully we’ll have announcements soon. We’ll work just as hard to get the No. 7 fully funded."

Patrick’s next race for the team is June 26 at New Hampshire.

Wimmer drove for JRM in six races last year, with a best finish of ninth at Darlington and O’Reilly Raceway Park. He’s slated to make his 200th Nationwide start at Bristol.

"Well I haven’t raced in the Nationwide Series yet this season, so it’s great to be back with a familiar team," Wimmer said. "I raced with JR Motorsports in a select number of races last year, but this will be my first time working with Tony Jr. He’s had a lot of success, so I’m really looking forward to working with him. The JRM equipment is some of the best you can find. As a driver it’s great to know you have that kind of infrastructure and support. I’m looking forward to the next two races with these guys."
