BRISTOL, Tenn. – Has Kevin Harvick developed another rivalry? Joe Gibbs Racing driver Joey Logano held off Harvick for numerous laps in the latter stages of the Scotts Turf Builder 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, but then Harvick dumped Logano on the last lap.
Harvick claimed fifth place to tie Tommy Houston for the most top-five finishes in series history, 123. Logano limped across the start-finish line 14th.
"I don’t understand that at all," Logano said of the incident. "It was for fifth place, so I don't know what he was doing. We ran together clean for almost the whole race and then he dumps me on the last lap. I don’t understand what he was thinking."
What was Harvick thinking?
"He kept chopping down on me … and it just worked out the way it did," Harvick said. "I don’t feel like he gave me any room."
The two later talked as they walked through the tunnel to exit the track.
