AVONDALE, Ariz. - Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards won his first NASCAR Nationwide Series pole of the season on Friday and will start first in the Bashas' Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway later Friday night.
Edwards turned a lap of 130.938 mph in the No. 60 Ford, edging Kyle Busch, who went 130.648 in Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 18 Toyota. Brad Keselowski starts third, with Greg Biffle fourth, Paul Menard fifth and Joey Logano sixth as Sprint Cup drivers took the top six spots.
Justin Allgaier was seventh, followed by Colin Braun, Scott Lagasse Jr. and Kevin Harvick.
Braun was the fastest of the drivers outside the top 30 in owners points who needed to make the race via qualifying. Also making the race in qualifying were Michael McDowell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Casey Mears, Brian Keselowski, Derrike Cope, David Gilliland, Morgan Shepherd, Dennis Setzer, Kevin Lepage, Jason Keller, Danny O'Quinn and John Borneman III.
Mark Green was the only driver to miss the race.
