Twenty-three-year old Drew Herring will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut Saturday driving Baker Curb Racing’s No. 27 Ford Fusion at Iowa Speedway in the U.S Cellular 250 presented by Northland Oil and John Deere.
Herring captured the pole for the 2009 Pork 200 USARacing Pro Cup Series race at the 0.875-mile tri-oval and went on to lead 128 of the 200 laps before settling for a second-place finish.
The 2008 USARacing Pro Cup Series Rookie of the Year started sixth and finished ninth in the 2008 race at Iowa Speedway.
In 2009 the Benson, N.C. native captured his first USARacing Pro Cup Series win at South Georgia Motorsports Park and registered seven top 5s and 9 top 10s in 14 starts.
Herring also made two ARCA Racing Series starts in 2009, finishing in the top 20 of both races at Rockingham Speedway. His resume also includes late model championships at Southern National Raceway Park in 2007 and South Boston Speedway in 2006.
