Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who has all eyes on him this weekend making his Cup debut in the Coca-Cola 600, took the pole for the Top Gear 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Knocking off Kevin Harvick, Stenhouse turned a lap of 28.878 at a speed of 186.994 mph. He is followed by teammate Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards.
Rounding out the top 10 are Reed Sorenson, Sam Hornish Jr., Aric Almirola, Kasey Kahne and Elliott Sadler.
With forty-five cars qualifying for the forty-three car field, two drivers went home. They were Charles Lewandoski and Chase Miller.
Also of note, Kimi Raikkonen, making his Nationwide Series debut, will start 22nd.
The highest starting Rookie of the Year candidate driver Blake Koch in 27th. With Lewandoski missing the field and Truex out, that three of the five ROTY candidates in the field.
The Top Gear 300 airs today on ABC at 2 pm Eastern.
