ESPN: NASCAR Nationwide Series ratings up 16 percent from 2010

After a 23 percent increase in the 2011 rating for the May 28 NASCAR Nationwide Series Top Gear 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and a 1.4 rating for the June 4 STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway, ESPN officials are reporting overall ratings for the series are up 16 percent over 2010.

 

The Top Gear 300 earned a final national rating of 1.6 on ABC, up 23.1 percent over the 1.3 the race earned in 2010. That race averaged 2,457,000 viewers, according to the Nielsen Company.

 

The STP 300 earned a 1.4 final national household coverage rating for the night race in Chicago, won by Justin Allgaier.

The STP 300, which averaged 2,023,000 viewers, was new to the 2011 schedule and has no direct comparison to 2010. 

Across ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, ratings for the NASCAR Nationwide Series are up 16 percent from this point last year.
